WAORANI

In this essay we will discuss the Waorani tribe of the Amazon.  The Waorani tribe are the only tribe like them in the world.  The tribe live in Ecuador (in the Amazon) they have learned over the years to adapt to there lifestyle.

We start firstly to look tools and weapons.  The tribe apart from a few things make there own.

They use a lot resource available.

One of the most interesting things I think they make are the darts.  To make the darts the men have to go into the rainforest look for a tree.  This tree has vines called Curare which are poisonous.

They test the poison by licking the vine and seeing if it’s bitter, if it’s bitter then its poison and they strip the vines down, role them up, and take it home.

When they are at home, they make darts out of wood then heat the poison and smother the darts, These will kill the pray.

Secondly, we will look at family life.

They have a good life living of a family of 15.  They have to move house every 6 months because the ground becomes infertile so they cannot grow things.  The men do all the hunting, building and making and the women do the growing and cooking.

The children at the age of 11 are allowed to borrow there fathers blow tube,  take it in the forest and do some hunting.

Next we will look at the garden and how they look after the crops. One thing that they grow is manioc which they mash up, this then becomes a alcohol.  They grow lots of these as Adults drink a gallon a day.
