THE WAORANI TRIBE OF THE AMAZON RAINFOREST

Introduction:

In this essay I am going to write about the waorani people and the Amazon forests the main things I am going to write about is:

·        1st animals/plants that live there/what they grow?

·        2nd weapons what they use?

·        3rd hunting’ haw they hunt?

·        4th family life’ what it is like?

·        5th housing’ what it is like?

·        6th clothing’ what they wore?

·        7th my conclusion’ summary!

ANIMALS/PLANTS

To start of there is many types of animals one in particular is a woolly monkey the waorani people love to hunt them and especially to eat them, the other kind of things they like to eat are: Curacao a type of wild chicken, then there’s peccaries a special name for pigs, there’s many kinds of different birds, there’s a harpi eagles which protect the waorani people if something is close. Then moving on to the trees there’s small, cotton wool plants, potato stems, bamboo there’s one thing I forgot to mention is that the waorani people are especially scarred of jaguars there a type of tigers/ leopards…

Weapons

The waorani people make different kinds of weaponry they make axes which they get a piece of wood  and get it into shape then find a piece of stone or metal and bang it into the wood to make an axe which they use to fall trees… the next is a curare a special name for a vine which has poisonous   bark, used to make poisonous blow darts the darts are made from the spine of vine leaves……..

Spears they use to kill there enemies up close  so to get a better attack if something like the Jaguar comes along and they defend there property with a spear.

HUNTING

In the forest people hunt for a living.

They have many ways of hunting them they mainly hunt woolly monkeys for 2 reasons 1 to eat the other for fur…

To hunt they have to learn different tactics for e.g. using a whistle to attract animals and they make there own weapons as I wrote above.

But there is one thing that they are scared of when they hunt animals animals hunt them like the JAGUAR…

JAGUARS are big wild cats that eat anything, for e.g. they hunt pigs/chickens but where ever the people hunt the jaguar is normally there watching.

FAMILY LIFE

In a family life you have to help each other the young girls learn to crop and plant and the young boys learn to hunt and make weapons.

They stay in one place for a few months then move because the place where they were would have been used up and it would probably contain a disease so the woman and girls collect the bottoms of trees and plant them different kind of trees because it contains potatoes. The name for potatoes where they come from is cassava or manico

HOUSEING

In an average house it contains a family of 12 and probably more to come they have a fire in the middle the house is made from bamboo and a bit of stringy type it has a alarm a harpi eagle which respects the waorani people. They also make there own beadings well that’s what the woman do they stitch with bamboo together and wind it through while the girls watch.

CLOTHING

The clothing that they where is only something that goes round there waist same with woman as well there isn’t a lot of things that I can say because that’s all they where…

CONCLUSION

Overall I think that they have many in ventures and  doing this project was fun to do and I hope to do more things like this in the future because I think for people who live in forests have there way of living and make good use of it by learning about things by there selves…
