The Waorani tribe of the Amazon Rainforest.

In this essay I will be explaining how the Waorani people survive in the rainforest with only animals and plants to live on. I am also going to tell you which roles the men and women have in which they keep their families alive. Everything they own is from the forest.

To start off with I am going to introduce what animals are in the Amazon forest, where the Waorani tribe live. The most killed animal is the woolly monkey. There are jaguars which are large cats, peccaries which is a wild pig these are haunted by people and also Jaguars. Also Curacao this is a type of wild chicken and many types of birds. There is a Harpi eagle however this is not killed as it is a pet and also can be used as a burglar alarm. There are many plants used to keep the Waorani people alive, such as the cassava also known as manioc this is a type of potato which is mashed up in side a person mouth and then spat out until it was ferment, and then mixed with water to turn it into a alcohol drink which adults drink a gallon of a day.

Next I am going to explain how they make their weapons and what they make them out of to hunt. The most common used weapon used to kill animals is the blow pipe. These take several weeks to make with it been nine feet long. It is made in two halves; it is a highly skilled job which boys learn from a very young age from their fathers and grandfathers. The darts that actually kill the animal contain a poison. The poison is from curane which is a vine that has a poisonous bark. The darts are made out of the spine of the vine leaves. When the darts are shot out of the blow pipes they use a bit of copoc which is a type of cotton wool to seal the dart in place. They use the teeth of a piranha fish to keep the tip of the poison on to score. This is a good idea to kill animals because if for example a monkey tries to pull out the dart the poison will still be inside.

In the third paragraph I am going to be talking about family life. First of all the men and women have different roles in the forest:
